NYPD steps up enforcement ahead of High Holy Days celebrations

The NYPD is making sure New Yorkers can safely observe the Jewish High Holy Days, beginning with Rosh Hashanah at sundown on Sunday and Yom Kippur the following week.
“We’ve seen a rise in both antisemitic crime and hate crimes in 2022,” said NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell. “We are obviously concerned... Rest assured your NYPD officers will be out there 24 hours a day working to keep you safe."
The NYPD says it will deploy more officers to streets and important areas for the duration of the High Holidays out of caution.
The Intelligence Bureau says it is taking a proactive approach by diving into online social media threats and previous attacks to help prevent future threats.
Police say there will be increased security at synagogues across the city but that there are no current credible threats.
