NYPD: Mount Vernon woman fatally slashed in Williamsbridge

The victim was discovered at a home on Oakley Street. She was taken to a hospital, where authorities say she was pronounced dead.

A 37-year-old Mount Vernon woman died after being slashed in the neck early Saturday morning in Williamsbridge, police say.

The victim, identified as Ashley Smith, was discovered at a home on Oakley Street. She was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi where authorities say she was pronounced dead.

The NYPD and neighbors on scene told News 12 that the slashing happened during a house party. Neighbors say they believe a fight broke out.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
