NYPD: Cyclist dead after being struck by FDNY truck in Park Slope

Police say the truck was being driven by a 44-year-old man who remained at the scene.

Police say a 24-year-old cyclist was killed after being struck by an FDNY pickup truck on Fourth Avenue Wednesday night.
The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. near the corner of Sackett Street and Fourth Avenue. According to the FDNY, the truck was responding to an emergency call regarding a baby who was choking when the collision happened.
When police arrived, they found the victim, who was later identified as Victor Hidalgo, of the Bronx, suffering from head and body injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Video footage taken moments after the crash shows the damage to the FDNY truck with one of its headlights blown out. Police say the truck was being driven by a 44-year-old man who remained at the scene.
No charges had been filed against the driver of the truck as of Thursday evening. The FDNY says the cause of the crash is under investigation.
