A man is in the hospital following a stabbing on Saturday afternoon in Fordham.

Police say officers responded to an assault around 1 p.m. on Webster Avenue near East Fordham Road, across from Fordham University.

Witnesses told News 12 that the victim and suspect are familiar to local businesses, and both men are homeless.

One witness said the two men got into a fight over money and a bag of clothes, when one man stabbed the other in his lower body.

A News 12 crew on the scene saw police take one man into custody, but they have not yet released his name.

Investigators said the victim was “highly uncooperative” and taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
