A NYCHA resident says she's been battling severe mold and mildew in her Throgs Neck apartment without much help from officials.
Verna Dunn, who lives at 2765 Sampson Ave., says the mold was so bad in her kitchen that the tiles bubbled up and broke from the floor.
She says it's been like that for two months after NYCHA crews came to repair some of the mold in the bathroom walls. When they did that, Dunn says the mold issue actually became worse, traveling from the bathroom to the kitchen.
She says breathing problems are making her avoid her home as much as she can until it is fixed.
"We don't need to be treated ...worse than an animal," Dunn says. "We need help, this is a serious, serious problem."
Dunn says she reported the issue to NYCHA several months ago and has reached out to local leaders for help.
At least one other tenant in the building has reported a similar mold problem.
News 12 has reached out to NYCHA and is still waiting to hear back.
