Doctors and health practitioners in New York can now prescribe medical marijuana for any ailment they see fit.
The
Office of Cannabis Management announced the launch of a new certification system that makes it easier to use and expands the eligibility for patients who can benefit from medical cannabis.
It will allow the certification of a patient by a doctor or eligible practioniner for any condition that the doctor believes can be treated with medical cannabis.
The use of recreational cannabis is still a year away. On March 31, 2021, New York legalized adult-use cannabis, also known recreational marijuana, by passing the Marijuana Regulation & Taxation Act (MRTA). That process is set to legally begin no sooner than March 1, 2022.
