A Mount Vernon woman was fatally struck by an SUV while she was walking to work Wednesday.
Police say the 56-year-old nurse was walking to the Metro-North train around 6:30 a.m. when she was hit at the intersection of Terrance Avenue and Grand Street. The victim's name has not been released yet.
Investigators say the 34-year-old driver of the Dodge Durango claims he never saw the woman.
Accident reconstruction experts have taken blood samples from the driver and are looking into whether speed was a factor.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
