A Westchester County judge entered a not guilty plea today for the man accused of killing a Mount Vernon grandmother.
Lloyd Lewis faced the judge Wednesday morning in White Plains. He's charged with murder in the death of 85-year-old Emma Gruber.
In February, police found Gruber's body under a pile of clothes at the bottom of her basement stairs in her South Sixth Avenue home. Authorities say she died from blunt force trauma to the head. A piece of wood with her blood on it was found next to her.
Mount Vernon Police Commissioner Terrance Raynor won't comment on the motive for the killing, but says he's confident they have the right man.
Lewis is scheduled to be back in court in October.
