Northwell Health announces recognition/reward program for front-line workers

Northwell Health has announced a recognition/reward program for its front-line workers.
Front-line staff will receive a lump-sum payment of up to $2,500 and one week of paid time off.
Northwell Health says that those eligible for the program include union and non-union nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists and other direct patient caregivers. It says environmental services workers, housekeepers and people in outpatient and corporate roles who went above and beyond in working behind-the-scenes to maintain effective operations during the surge in patient volume are also included.
The health system estimates that about 45,000 team members are eligible for the lump-sum payments and one week of supplemental paid time off.
Northwell Health says that since the coronavirus crisis began in early March, Northwell hospitals treated and discharged more than 6,100 patients. It says more than 2,600 are still hospitalized.
