Former Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin will be heading to an operating room instead of a federal prison on Tuesday.
Jasmin is reportedly battling cancer and is scheduled to undergo surgery.
She was sentenced in August for accepting bribes in connection with a proposed community center in Spring Valley.
Jasmin asked the court to remain on bail while she appeals, but the request was denied.
