The number of residents in Fairfield
County considered food insecure has grown from the start of the pandemic.
The Food Rescue US Fairfield County and the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County
partnered to distributed food boxes from the United States Department of
Agriculture to those in need.
Organizers thanked the Tawa restaurant for allowing them to use their
parking lot for distribution.
Executive Director of the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County Katie Lombardo
says their goal is to have towns working together to help people in need.
“It really is necessary and it’s going to continue to be necessary for a long
time to come,” Lombardo says.
Food boxes will be going to agencies from Bridgeport to Greenwich.
