A nonprofit organization in White Plains is helping deserving families fill their homes with donated furniture.
Furniture Sharehouse provides furniture to families in need while they rebuild their lives during tough times.
The organization handles 7,000 arrivals and departures of donations each year.
Furniture Sharehouse makes truck deliveries for a small fee to hundreds of families who have been pre-screened by the nonprofit's member agencies. Families receiving donations may also bring their own truck to take furniture home.
The organization started the "Lonely Chair Campaign" in order to raise awareness for Westchester families who don't have the proper furniture to provide a stable home. Single chairs are displayed at local businesses to urge the community to donate unused furniture for those in need.
The Furniture Sharehouse will be holding a special donation drive this Saturday at their warehouse located next to the Westchester County Airport.
