A nonprofit called The Young Center is seeking volunteers to support unaccompanied immigrant children in the area.
They train volunteers to work with young people who are going through the deportation process.
One of their regional offices is holding a Volunteer Child Advocate training session next month.
They're now asking multilingual people -- 21 and older -- from Westchester and the surrounding area to sign up for the training and become a volunteer.
Ari Cannavino, one of their volunteer coordinators, shared what the volunteer experience looks like with News 12 crews.
"We need and really rely on local volunteers to meet with one child, once a week, through the duration of their case to get their information, to get their story, to honestly just hang out with them, play some games with them, really put them in the center of their needs," Cannavino said.
To learn more about the volunteer requirements and to apply for the training, please use this form.
The application closes on Aug. 23.
