The state attorney general's office announced today that no charges will be filed against a New Rochelle police officer involved in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Jarrell Garris last year.

The decision comes after a yearlong investigation into the incident, which occurred on Lincoln Avenue following a complaint from a store.

According to the attorney general's office, video evidence showed Garris had his hands on the officer's gun before the shot was fired.

Garris died a week after the encounter.

The report also includes recommendations for the New Rochelle Police Department regarding training and use of force.
