NJ Transit adds service, Amtrak issues warnings as train ridership spikes amid inflation

A new study suggests New Jersey travelers are canceling their flights and road trips and booking travel on trains instead.
New data from Quote Wizard shows 14% of New Jersey drivers are using public transit to save money.
The number of those carpooling is around 22%, with another 42% canceling trips altogether.
NJ Transit said it was offering early getaway rail and bus service Wednesday for people traveling to Newark Liberty International Airport.
Extra trains and buses are available on Thursday and Friday for holiday revelers and shoppers.
And if you're taking Amtrak, officials are warning riders to arrive at least 45 minutes early this week as it happens to be their busiest time of year.
