A New Jersey teenager is expected to make a full recovery after a severe cliff jumping accident this past Saturday in Orange County.

An 18-year-old woman misjudged a 35-foot jump off a cliff at Ramapo River in Tuxedo and hit the rocks head first and passed out on impact.

The young woman's friends saved her from drowning and called 911.

"Everything about it was just difficult. From the heat to the terrain to the river-everything," says Lt. John Norton of the Tuxedo Police Department. "The remote location, her injuries. And unfortunately, that had to be the priority-we had to make sure she was immobile."

Officials say the teen broke her collar bone, a rib and suffered spinal injuries but is expected to walk again.

Ramapo River is not an area with lifeguards or authorized for swimming.

Police have not released the name of the teen.
