Newburgh tenants: Building is overrun with bedbugs, roaches, rats
Tenants at an affordable housing complex in Newburgh say their building is overrun with bedbugs, roaches and rats.
The tenants live at the 65-unit Fogarty Apartments on Johnson Street. Management said by phone that there's only one unit having a problem and it’s being treated. However, multiple residents News 12 spoke to say that's far from the case.
"They get rid of them, and they come right back. It goes from one apartment to the next,” says one tenant.
The Newburgh Housing Authority admits several units have had bedbugs and other pests in the past, but says exterminators aggressively treat those apartments as needed.
A representative from the Newburgh Housing Authority said by phone that the one unit being treated may actually have fleas and not bedbugs.
