The Newburgh Police Department said goodbye yesterday to one of their longtime K-9 officers.
Police say they had to put down 9-year-old German Shepherd Ibor after seven years of service because he developed a sudden and incurable medical condition.
Police Chief Michael Ferrara said Ibor worked nights with his handler, Patrol Officer John Mcquire, and was well-loved within the community.
The city of Newburgh has another K-9 officer currently in training. A K-9 named Lee is set to graduate later this month.
