A 39-year-old Newburgh man was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing kids for several years, according to officials.
Vernon Copeland III was sentenced for sexually abusing multiple children between the ages of 9 and 17.
Officials say he fled the state four years ago when he suspected police were closing in on him.
He was found a year later in Florida.
Copeland is charged with aggravated sexual assault, enticement and transportation of a minor.
