Concerns are swelling in an Orange County community following the arrest of a man suspected of kidnapping, raping and forcing women into prostitution.
Theodore Edwards, of Newburgh, is charged with kidnapping and raping at least four female victims. The 49-year-old allegedly forced them into prostitution while being held against their will.
Authorities say Edwards brought the victims to a rooming house on Broadway, which residents say is known for drug use. Edwards is accused of imprisoning and beating the victims for months, in addition to posting advertisements to prostitute them as recently as March.
Edwards is being held at the Orange County Jail on $1 million cash bail.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office says there might be other victims and asks them to come forward by calling 845-291-3276.
