Officials with the New York Blood Center say they are facing a critical shortage in donations of blood.
They say the blood bank has reached a crisis point and are asking fellow Bronx residents to donate blood.
"We're finding that the ? blood center is suffering the consequences of the economy," says Lanette Villarroel, who works with the blood bank. "Lots of organizations and schools are not donating anymore."
Officials with the blood bank say they've made some headway and received 60 donations during the past few weeks. They are hoping to reach their goal of 100.
