The Yonkers Public School District is getting ready to open a brand-new school.
The Justice Sonia Sotomayor Community School is filled with much more than just classrooms and a cafeteria, it's aiming to becoming a major pillar in the community.
The school will serve pre-K through eighth-grade students.
The community aspect includes features the neighborhood can get in on like access to a health clinic and the gym.
On top of that, this school is making history for the Yonkers Public Schools District by being an official 'dual language' school.
"Yonkers has a really high Latino population, being able to offer a dual language experience is really important to our kids in our community, it's part of their culture, part of their identity," says Superintendent of Yonkers Public Schools, Anibal Soler Jr.
The first day of school is Sept. 5.
