People in New Windsor are on alert after the town's police chief spotted a large black bear in a residential neighborhood this morning.
The police chief noticed the adult bear while driving through the area of Nina Street and Keats Drive at around 8 a.m. on his way to work.
The concern is that it is a highly residential area with pets and small children, who are often outside playing.
Police are asking residents to be careful and keep an eye out for the bear. They say it doesn't appear trapped and is simply roaming through the nearby wooded area.
