Wednesday was World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Advocates with LifeWay Network, anti-trafficking nonprofit in New York state, released a directory of safe housing for human trafficking survivors.
LifeWay Network advocates said there is a big need for more housing for survivors.
Here are the organizations listed for Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties.
Westchester County:
  • Freedom Youth Family Justice Center
  • LifeWay Network
  • My Sisters' Place
Rockland County:
  • Center for Safety and Change
Orange County:
  • Fearless!
"The first immediate key to survivors reaching their goal and competing independence is immediate safety, and that is a housing, that's a long-term safe housing," says Josephine Crisostomo, with the LifeWay Network.
