The bomb squad was called into a New Rochelle middle school Monday after a student found what appeared to be a grenade.
The incident happened as students were leaving Issac E. Young Middle School, says Anthony Bongo, the school's principal.
The bomb squad found the grenade at the Centre Avenue school to be "an empty cartridge," Bongo says.
Police are now investigating where the empty grenade came from and how it got there.
