New Rochelle residents say construction is ruining their quality of life.
"It's affecting everyone's sleep, my wife is up in arms saying, 'When is this going to stop?,'" says Stephen DiDonato, who lives on Webster Avenue in New Rochelle.
Residents in the area say construction to replace a water main along Webster Avenue into the downtown area is ruining their quality of life.
Workers are digging up the roads to make a trench for the new pipe. Once they finish building the trench in one area, they cover it with a plate and move on down. Only when the entire road is finished will they will begin installation of the pipe.
Didonato says he's counted 51 plates from Mayflower Avenue down Webster Avenue to Thomas Place.
"Making a noise every time a truck or vehicle or car 24/7 rolls over them, you'll hear the banging and clanking if a bus goes over it - it practically lifts the plates out of the hole," he said.
It's also creating a dangerous situation, as cars are now veering into oncoming traffic to avoid the plates.
