Charudet Smith was arrested Thursday and appeared in federal court in White Plains, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Authorities say 31-year-old Smith used various aliases thru Instagram and e-mails over a two-month period to get a 17-year-old to send sexually explicit pictures to him.
The victim agreed to meet Smith to engage in sexual activity in Seattle, Washington.
Authorities say anyone who may have encountered Smith or whose child may have communicated with him is asked to contact the FBI.
