New Rochelle High School held a drunk driving simulation Tuesday as prom season arrives and graduation approaches.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says 1 in 3 alcohol-related teen traffic fatalities occur in this time period.
The event reminded seniors of what is at stake, as they watched a mock car crash scene play out in front of their school.
The school has been hosting this event for the past two decades. The event involved local first responders and was organized by Students Against Destructive Decisions.
The demonstration encouraged students to have a plan for prom night.
There are more than 800 seniors at New Rochelle High School. Their prom is scheduled for next month.
