The city manager of New Rochelle released her first proposed budget.
Kathleen Gill is proposing a $305.5 million budget for fiscal year 2024. It calls for a 2.3% tax hike. For the average homeowner, that amount translates to a $94 annual increase.
Among other things, the budget bolsters essential emergency services and increases the fire department's minimum staffing to 36 members.
It also continues the city's investment in community development - emphasizing job training, placement and housing assistance programs.
The City Council must eventually approve the budget.
