The bill will create an Office of Flooding Prevention and Mitigation to help communities throughout the state to address flooding and research flooding impacts.

New legislation introduced by New York state Sens. Shelley B. Mayer and Pete Harckham will help communities combat severe storm flooding.
The bill will create an Office of Flooding Prevention and Mitigation to help communities throughout the state to address flooding and research flooding impacts.
Mayer made a Facebook post about the bill passing the Senate. It stated, "this office will provide the necessary strong, coordinated, and strategic approach to help provide counties, municipalities, and individuals with the tools to tackle the scale of the work ahead."
