New York State will now require random drug and alcohol testing for all school bus drivers as part of several bills that were signed into the law.
Under older law, only 10 percent of bus drivers were required to submit to testing.
Drivers also will no longer be able to consume alcohol at least eight hours before a shift instead of six hours.
Another bill, requires district attornies to immediately notify school officials if a worker has been charged with a sexual offense. This also includes contractors, custodians, and others.
