A Nyack man who gave his life to save others during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is being honored with a new film made about his acts of courage.

Welles Crowther was 24 years old when he lost his life in the World Trade Center. Crowther was an equity trader and volunteer firefighter.

Crowther was working on the 104th floor of the South Tower when the planes hit nearly 16 years ago. He found an escape route, but he stayed inside to help others get out.

Crowther helped 12 people get to safety, all while wearing a red bandana that gave the movie its namesake.

The documentary about him is titled "Man in Red Bandana," which retraces his steps in the final hour of his life, complete with interviews with the people he saved.

The Crowther family will be in attendance at the Lafayette Theater in Suffern Wednesday for the world premiere of the film.
