Federal prosecutors have filed new charges against a Connecticut man accused of targeting children online and traveling to Putnam County to meet a teenage girl.
Marcos Francisco Javier Gomez was first arrested two years ago.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Gomez allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with a teenager through text messages, FaceTime and social media before attempting to meet her.
Prosecutors now say their investigation uncovered evidence involving five children.
Authorities allege Gomez communicated with all five and had sexual contact with four of them.
Officials say the expanded charges significantly broaden the scope of the case.
If convicted, Gomez could face up to life in prison.
