Plans to build a massive apartment complex in downtown Peeskill is being touted as the city's largest residential project in more than 50 years.
City officials plan to build the complex on a 2-acre plot on Park Street that has remained untouched for years. Officials say the complex will be home to 150 one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as restaurants, retail space and an outdoor plaza.
The project is still awaiting final approval by Peekskill's planning board. There is also another building slated to go up on Main Street. That complex would add another 75 apartments to the city.
Officials say they hope that if the Park Street complex is approved, it will help regenerate the entire surrounding neighborhood.
