People living in the Wesley Hills section of Ramapo are shocked to hear about today's murder-suicide.
Neighbors tell News 12 that John Lord and his wife Irene moved into the neighborhood in the mid-1980s. Many say the couple were lovely people and were always willing to help when needed. They apparently had no children, but lots of friends. They also owned dogs, one of which was removed from the house by animal control.
George Papa moved in next door about three months after the Lords in 1985. "Wonderful, wonderful all the time. If I say something, they help me, good people, I'm surprised at what's going on now," says Papa.
The motive behind the shooting is still unclear.
