The curtains are set to close on a historic theater in Parkchester, but neighbors in the area are fighting passionately to save it.
The American Theater has been an institution in the community for 73 years. It's set to become a TJ Maxx store, but some residents say that's just not what the neighborhood needs.
More than 2,000 people have signed a petition against the theater's closure. It has been sent to Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Bronx borough president.
There are several upcoming rallies planned for the theater as well.
