Nearly two dozen people are homeless after a fire ripped through a home in Mount Vernon Monday evening.
Mount Vernon fire officials say the fire occurred at a home on Franklin Avenue around 5 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire, and the Red Cross is assisting families who were displaced.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
