The 50th anniversary of the Woodstock festival is in limbo, but it’s not stopping music lovers from rocking out.
There was a crowd rocking at the 50th anniversary of Woodstock party in Mohegan Lake.
The featured band there was called Back to the Garden 1969. The name came from a Joni Mitchell song about the iconic festival that happened 50 years ago in Sullivan County.
Among the crowd Wednesday night was a couple originally from Middletown. They were featured in a photo that became the cover of the Woodstock soundtrack album. The photo of the couple shown hugging under a grubby blanket is now iconic. They say they did not even know the photo was taken until the album was released.
News 12 got a chance to talk to Nick and Bobbi Ercoline. Nick Ercoline said they were just 20 years old when they went to Woodstock in 1969, along with half a million people. The festival featured 32 performing acts. There was rain, mud, tents and drugs.
"It was just insane, but it was great. People were so friendly and happy. When you're 20 years old and you're in love, you don't need anything. There's nothing bad about it,” says the couple.
