Museum of Broadway set to open Nov. 15 in Manhattan

There will be one Broadway opening this fall that is not a show.
The Museum of Broadway is set to open on Nov. 15 on West 45th Street in the heart of the theatre district. The museum will feature interactive exhibits, costumes and props to show the history of New York theater going back to the 1700s.
"And then when you get to a certain show that helped to transform the landscape of Broadway, you may walk into ‘Oklahoma!’ And you walk through this immersive cornfield and there is this beautiful impressionistic sunrise done by a painter on the wall and it kind of comes to life before your eyes," says museum co-founder Julie Boardman, a Tony award-winning Broadway producer.
The museum, now under construction, will feature four floors of exhibit space.
"It's been quite a journey for us," says co-founder and marketing executive Diane Nicoletti, "We've been working on this for five years."
Exhibits and other immersive experiences in the museum include the shows “The Ziegfeld Follies,” “The Wiz,” “Ain't Misbehavin'” and “Rent.” More than 500 individual productions will be highlighted.
Tickets have gone on sale and start at $39 with a portion going to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Learn more about http://www.museumofbroadway.com here.
