Prosecutors say a grand jury failed to indict a Middletown man accused of fatally stabbing his friend with a Rambo-style knife.
Authorities say murder charges against Eusten Coppin, 23, were dropped on Friday. Coppin had been charged with killing Nicholas Lacatena last month during a dispute outside of his house.
Coppin's defense attorney, Michael Sussman, says his client acted in self-defense. A closed pocketknife that allegedly belonged to Lacatena was found on the scene.
Lacatena's mother says the case is being mishandled and that her son was not the aggressor.
Authorities say Coppin was released from Orange County Jail and that no further charges will be filed.
