MTA camera enforcement expands to more bus routes in the Bronx
The MTA said Monday begins a 60-day warning period. During this time, violators will receive a warning letter in the mail.
Starting Monday, the MTA expanded the program ACE, or Automated Camera Enforcement, to the Bx9 and Bx15 bus routes.
Buses are now equipped with cameras able to identify and ticket vehicles that block bus lanes.
"You know shouldn't be parking in a bus lane regardless. It's a consecutive lane that these buses use all day every day," said Matthew, a Bx15 bus rider.

Come January, the city will begin issuing tickets.
First time offenders will be fined $50. Fines can increase to $250 for repeat violators.
News 12 cameras caught multiple vehicles double-parked and sitting idle in bus lanes.
The MTA said a told of 51 bus routes citywide are now equipped with ACE.
City data shows the initiative is working. But routes with the enforcement have increased speeds by an average of 5%. Some corridors saw an increase as high as 30%.
Data shows a 20% reduction in collisions and a 40% decrease in these violations altogether.
Fines will begin being issued following the warning period in January 2026.
