Wake services were held in Mount Vernon Friday for the security guard who was brutally murdered while doing his job on Halloween night.
Dozens of people gathered at Macedonia Baptist Church to say goodbye to 52-year-old Neville Webb. Close relatives and friends say they will miss him dearly. Police say Webb was shot in the head and chest by 18-year-old Nyanda Charley. According to police, Webb was shot as he approached a group of teens hurling eggs at people and cars outside the building where he worked. Detectives say Webb may have had a run in with Charley earlier, and the suspected gunman may have come back for revenge. Webb succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Meanwhile, Charley was in court to face charges of second-degree murder and weapons possession. His case will be presented to a grand jury when he is due back in court next week. Charley remains in the Westchester County Jail.
Webb?s body will be flown to his native Jamaica for burial.
