The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau has announced that the after-school program, Ready 4 Life, will return on Jan. 17 to help high school students resolve their conflicts.
This decision comes after a year of concern about youth violence in the community, particularly after a teenager stabbed and killed a high school cheerleader.
Ready 4 Life is a six-week program that will provide high school students with work experience and trips to improve mental health and learn about healthy relationships.
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a $100 reward.
The program is advertised as a "secret mission" and is only available to high school students.
It aims to provide young people with the tools and resources to navigate conflicts and build healthy relationships.
