Mount Vernon police are investigating two vehicle-related thefts.

Officials say two tire and wheel thefts happened on Thursday.

"Criminals are taking advantage of moments of vulnerability, but let it be clear—we will not tolerate this in our community," the City of Mount Vernon said in a statement. "We have released a Public Service Announcement (PSA) with crime prevention tips to empower residents and deter future incidents. Crime does not recognize borders, and we are committed to working with all stakeholders to enhance public safety. " Officials are encouraging residents to make sure doors and windows of your vehicle are locked and to not leave keys inside.
