Supporters of the Mount Vernon School of Music are hopeful the city's mayor will reverse his veto of a measure that could save the school.
Mount Vernon's Real Estate Board and City Council earlier approved an agreement to move the school to a foreclosed property at 135 N. High St.
Mayor Richard Thomas vetoed it, citing a conflict of interest that barred the city from property sales involving city employees.
But Wednesday, Thomas said the employee who caused the conflict of interest is no longer a paid city employee.
The mayor said he'll revisit the agreement and reach out to council members to see how he can legally overturn his veto.
City Council members said they plan to make sure the school finds a new home, even if it's at a different location.
