Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard says a sewer rehab project will begin in the next one to two weeks at the 3rd Street Borehole Pump Station on West Third Street between South Seventh and South Ninth avenues.
That part of West Third Street will be one lane westbound during the work.
Over the past 18 months, the mayor says a temporary bypass system has been installed and funding has been allocated.

The city is now installing more road barriers, and the mayor says the work should take about nine to 12 months.

She says the community should expect additional no parking areas, traffic pattern disruptions, construction noise, intermittent street closures for construction equipment and work crews around.
