Mount Vernon man pleads guilty to manslaughter and assault in Sleepy Hollow shooting case

A Mount Vernon man has entered a guilty plea for manslaughter and assault charges in connection to a fatal shooting of a Sleepy Hollow man during an altercation at Margotta Courts Park in June 2021.

Emmanuel Valentin Perez, a 20-year-old resident of Mount Vernon, has entered a guilty plea for manslaughter and assault charges related to the fatal shooting of Manuel Salazar, a 32-year-old Sleepy Hollow resident.

The Westchester County District Attorney's Office confirmed the pleas.

Perez had been facing charges in connection with the June 2021 shooting incident that resulted in the death of Manuel Salazar during an altercation at Margotta Courts Park. Another individual sustained a gunshot wound during the incident.

Upon sentencing scheduled for October, Perez is expected to receive 10 years in state prison for the manslaughter charge and an additional two years for assault.
