A Mount Vernon man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in New Rochelle on Friday night.
Police say Richard Hayes, 23, shot the 27-year-old victim twice in the chest in a New Rochelle apartment on Union Avenue.
The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the shooting was not a random act, and that Hayes and victim knew each other.
Hayes was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is in custody awaiting arraignment in New Rochelle City Court.
