School budgets were approved by voters Tuesday for multiple districts across the Hudson Valley.

The budget was approved for the Mount Vernon City School District where administrators announced major layoffs and the closure of three schools. Voters approved the $272 million budget that also comes with a 3.3% tax levy increase.

The Mamaroneck Union Free School District's $169 million budget was also approved. It includes a nearly 5% tax levy increase, which exceeds the state cap.

East Ramapo also approved its spending plan with 1,200 yes votes compared to 622 no votes. Voters in the Clarkstown Central School District approved a new budget, with more than 75% voting in favor.

Tuxedo and Mahopac were the only districts who rejected the budget proposals.
