A funeral home director in Mount Vernon is accused of operating without a license following a state inspection.

State health officials inspected the Camelot Funeral Home last Friday and then alerted law enforcement.

The inspection led to the arrest of 55-year-old Michael Naughton. Police say he is accused of operating as a funeral director without a license.

Naughton is due back in court later this month.

News 12 spoke with him by phone. He said he is doing his best to assist the public and called the investigation premature.
